It
is spring and that means tis’ the season for high winds, damaging hail,
and an opportunity for the north to get even with us after all that
snowfall we never get in the wintertime. A lot of us hear the warnings
that are provided to us by the NOAA (National Oceanographic and
Atmospheric Association) and the NWS (National Weather Service) and we
understand what they are, whether it be a Severe Thunderstorm watch or a
Tornado warning. There is one, though, that comes up that many of us
are not familiar with; it’s called the "Red Flag" warning.
The "Red Flag" is usually related to hurricanes or burn bans in most
people’s minds, but actually the Red Flag means more than that. There is

So how then, if we have a "Red Flag" warning, does our homeowners policy cover it?
