The Jesusita Fire burning in Santa Barbara burnt 1,300 acres and remains uncontained. As of Thursday afternoon, 3,500 homes were threatened and 5,400 homes and 13,575 people have been evacuated.
Farmers' Mobile Claims Center (MCC) No. 9 is scheduled to arrive Thursday afternoon at the evacuation center set up at Dos Pueblos High School. Our Customer Care Vehicle remains parked in the very front of the parking lot at the school's entrance. In addition, we've set up a claims table at the evacuation center's entrance. The MCC may change locations Friday. We're working with the school and local officials for a permanent location. Dos Pueblos High School is located at 7266 Alameda Avenue, in Goleta.
On Thursday, activity at the CCV and Farmers booth has been light. Customers have been asking questions and some additional living expense checks have been distributed. District manager Steve Miller conducted an interview with Oakland's KTVU Channel 2 news team in front of the CCV. No additional evacuations centers are planned according to local officials at this time.
