My name is Matthew O’Brien. I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA.
I started my career in insurance in 1991 after attending Santa Clara University. The 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake sparked my interest in the insurance industry when my parents’ home was severely damaged and they had no coverage for the loss. It was a devastating time for my family and I decided then that I would learn how to prevent this from ever happening to other families.
After my initial training, I opened my first office in Soquel, CA in 1991. I then moved to our current location in Santa Cruz, CA in 2000.
Throughout my career, I have been committed to my clients and to learning about what is important to them and their future goals. With the knowledge and experience that I have gained in this industry, and with all the inherent pitfalls and blind corners life can present, I strive to put myself in my clients’ shoes so that I may offer the best solution possible be it auto, home, Life*, commercial, or health insurance. I also realize that in this industry with all the 800 number companies and low price leaders (that really aren’t that low!) very few insurance professionals are taking the time to know who they are serving. My staff and I work to make a difference with every client by taking an interest in his/her life situation, putting the client’s needs first.
