I became Farmers insurance agent back in 2000 while living in Nevada. My parents had been agents with another company for 20 years, so getting into the business provided lots of family encouragement and support. At that time, my father retired and many of his 6,000 clients would call asking where they should move their insurance business to. With that news and with the help of my sister and first staff person, I made the decision to move back to Seattle, close the Nevada office and reopen in Washington.
The other company's agents in the area sent us all the business they could not write and helped us grow very quickly. Although they are our competitor, they are a friendly one. We owe a lot of our success to them, as we started out with zero clients.
My sister is still working here at the agency and we now have a total of five employees who specialize in various insurance products. We all work very hard, enjoy what we do and look forward to being in the insurance business for many, many years.
